High Performance Institute is a junior development tennis academy owned and operated by Yvonne Gallop, a former world-class tennis player instructor at IMG / Chris Evert Tennis Academy. HPI offers unparalleled tennis instructions, focus on the fundamental tenets of tennis strokes, movement, balance, and match play.
HPI is located in San Mateo, CA.

Our Coaches
Head Coach Yvonne Gallop
Coach Yvonne is a former world-class tennis player with 40+ years of teaching, coaching and competition experience. She is certified by the USPTA, PTR and WTA. Her development philosophy stretches beyond the tennis courts; motivating, inspiring and mentoring her players. She includes character building, sportsmanship, integrity, work ethic, discipline and team building to the program.
Coach Yvonne hold a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice with her discipline in youth, and minor in Political Science, from San Francisco State University.
Coach Jeff Kawahara
Born and raised in Half Moon Bay, Coach Jeff brings enthusiasm and passion to the tennis. He has currently worked for High Performance Tennis Academy for five years and has enjoyed great success with players of all ages. He is certified with PTR (Professional Tennis Registry) specializing in 10 and under tennis. When he is not on the tennis courts he enjoys bowling, hanging out with friends and going to In N Out!
Coach Fred
Coach Fred is a Bay Area native and passionate tennis player. He is certified with PTR (Professional Tennis Registry) Level 2 and GRSA (Global Racket Stringers Association) Certified Pro Stringer. He is active in USTA Adult League and regularly participate in USTA Sectional events. Outside of HPI, he is a Tennis Instuctor for the Department of Athletics, Physical Education, and Recreation at Stanford University.
Prior to joining HPI, he worked in the advertising and media industry for over 20 years. Coach Fred graduated from San Jose State University with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. He is First Aid/AED/CPR certified.
Coach Brandon Leung
Meet Coach Brandon, a passionate tennis player who first joined the HPI tennis program in seventh grade. During his time at Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory, Brandon played four years of varsity singles tennis, earning numerous school and league awards along the way. Brandon competed in USTA junior and adult tournaments and was recruited by division 2 and division 3 schools before choosing to attend UC Davis.
Coach Brandon graduated from UC David with a degree in Business Administration.
